Annual Reward For A Top Technical Recruitment Team

Last month Energi People’s target hitters, hit the big time in Monaco for our annual target reward weekend. Every year we run a theme for our end of year incentive, this time it was a casino theme and where better to rub shoulders with the high rollers than Monte Carlo in Monaco!

Kat Jefferies, Sarah New, Nick Rothery, David Routh, Jemma Kittle and I set off from Gatwick on Friday 18th May (yes, we got a day off too) on a flight to Nice. The highlight of the trip came early for some, with a helicopter ride from Nice airport to Monte Carlo in time to check in to the Hotel Hermitage! This was an amazing way to kick off the weekend and arrive in style.

Having settled into our rooms the team enjoyed pre-dinner drinks on the Crystal Bar Terrace at the hotel, followed by a celebratory three course dinner at Café De Paris, superbly hosted by Laurent, the maître d’, who kept us all very entertained. Then it was time to visit the legendary Casino de Monte-Carlo and try to win at the tables. We had moderate success, but no one was in a position to hand in their notice by the end of the evening!

Day 2, and the Energi People team hit Monte Carlo’s sightseeing scene with a leisurely walk around the town visiting the beautiful Jardin Exotique de Monaco, La Palais des Princes de Monaco and the harbour. We spent lunch checking out the luxury yachts moored near the Quai des Artisites restaurant, although sadly none of us had won big enough the previous evening to put our names on one.

Saturday afternoon was spent by some of the team in the spa and the Monte-Carlo Beach Club; the Thermes Marins has a large heated seawater pool, Turkish bath, sauna and cardio training centre with panoramic sea views. A bit of retail therapy was in order for some, while others tried their luck again at the casino or enjoyed a beer at Brasserie de Monaco.

The night was young when we had cocktails and canapés at the hotel, followed by a stroll taking in the famous Monaco F1 track – another highlight for F1 fans. We then enjoyed an amazing meal at the Buddha Bar, Monte Carlo’s temple to Asian fine dining. With no Cinderella’s in a group the night was still young when we made our way to the iconic Jimmy’z.

This is Monaco’s most famous nightspot, and one of Europe’s most cutting edge clubs. Headlining electro names include Bob Sinclar, Robin Schulz, Michael Calfan, Lost Frequencies, Martin Solveig, Mark Ronson, Fatboy Slim, Big Ali and Benny Benassi, to name but a few. Rubbing shoulders with celebs is de rigueur at Jimmy’z too, we spent a great time celeb spotting and partying the night away. We were welcomed by Alessandro with a magnum of DP!

There were a few sleepy heads the following morning, but we had a laid back breakfast at Hotel Hermitage before heading off to the airport to return back to sunny Farnborough!

Technical recruitment is a tough area to be in. It’s competitive and therefore targets are really important for keeping the team motivated and incentivised. Many companies have reward schemes, some low key while others really splash out on big rewards.
