The Mechanical Project Engineer

With multiple clients in the Canary Wharf area and across London, the role will focus on improving both the design and commercial aspects of current projects. They key focus will be providing a bridge between the design and project management teams in this site-based role. Key elements will focus on design management, and procurement, with supervision of contractors. Duties will include to:

Organise project labour and materials to meet contractual programmes of works.

Cost and prepare tender returns as required.

Management of internal design.

Attend regular company/departmental meetings.

Attend meetings with clients.

Ensure that all engineers complete paperwork as required.

You will ensure to the best of your ability, that all project contracts are kept within budget and provide the require profits margins.

Order materials and raise the associated purchase orders and ensure each job is invoiced accordingly.

Communication with the clients and suppliers to ensure that all requests are handled within the service level agreed, recorded in the systems and appropriate action is taken.

You will be required to report to the Contracts Manager.

The Company

Established for over 15 years, the company are a mechanical only contractor with a growing reputation. Carrying out projects for some high-profile clients in the financial district, they deliver a mix of installation projects and aftercare/maintenance up to £1.5m. With the company steadily progressing there will be a lot of opportunities to learn and push towards a Project Manager role in the medium term.

Experience

Strong technical knowledge of the full mechanical services – particularly pipework

Ideally you will have formal qualifications I.e. Degree/HNC/HND/ONC – But those qualified through experience will also be considered.

Projects will be mainly be in the commercial sector – CAT B Fitouts, refurbishments – Full design and build contracts CSCS Card is essential, but SSSTS/SMSTS qualifications are advantageous

While experienced candidates are definitely welcomed, the company will have you supporting the Contracts Manager and will have time to develop less experienced staff

Remuneration

In return, the company can offer a base salary of up to £40,000 p.a. with a travel allowance, discretionary bonus, and a contributory pension. If you have longer term ambitions to progress into project management, they can put together a personalised development plan and help you gain the skills you need to progress.
