An established M&E building services contractor in Hampshire are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. Projects are across the commercial, education and healthcare sectors up to £3M.

The Mechanical Project Manager

Reporting directly to the Director, you will take the lead ensuring projects are delivered to expectations. Split between the office in Southampton, and various projects across Hampshire/Sussex/Wiltshire, you will take the lead on project delivery with accountability for profit and loss of your project. Duties will include short term programming, site logistics, supervising and managing engineers and subcontractors, ordering materials and plant, variations, providing technical advice and keeping a close eye on project spend to ensure profitability.

An established regional M&E contractor in the Southampton area, the business has been going for over 30 years and has now grown to sustain £10M turnover. With key contracts secured for upcoming works, they have a strong regional presence across the southern counties, and are continuing to scale up the business sensibly. A lean and efficient business, they encourage staff to learn across their disciplines and get involved throughout the full project life cycle.

Experience and Qualifications

At least 3 years as project lead

A background in commercial projects – fast track or multiple projects advantageous

Strong commercial awareness – Will have responsibility for profit and loss on projects, so must be comfortable procuring materials, subcontractors and tracking costs

Relevant mechanical qualifications (NVQ, HNC, HND or Degree advantageous, but not essential)

Relevant site qualifications including SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid at Work and CSCS

Natural leadership and communication skills

Remuneration

The successful candidate can expect to receive an annual salary of up to £55,000 p.a. depending on experience with a travel package, a contributory pension, 23 days annual leave and a discretionary bonus.
