Great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor / Quality Control to part a new and exciting construction regional business, spanning the Caribbean region.

The Quantity Surveyor/Quality Control responsibilities will include but not to be limited:

  • Managing cost reporting
  • Managing the subcontractor procurement and tender analysis
  • Managing the valuations and variations
  • Being part of a team working on the coordination and preparation of bills of quantities, tender documentation and tender packages in line with standard systems of measurements
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and related reports
  • Preparing the concept, schematic and detailed design cost plan and pre-tender estimates
  • Coordinating and preparing of contract documents
  • Value engineering / value management
  • Preparing and making recommendations for payment of interim payments
  • Preparing final account statements and other financial certificates as required in accordance with the respective forms of contract
  • Preparing appropriate responses to claims and contractual correspondence for the line manager/commercial manager
  • Undertaking and performing services adhering to international best practice processes and the standards of the RICS
  • Supporting the managers with the preparation of fee invoices
  • Ensuring the scope of service is clear and understood by all parties
  • Ensuring the client delivery expectations are understood and achieved
  • Keeping abreast of market developments and related costs
  • Ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms, that sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and commitments to subcontractors
  • Administering duties at procurement stage, preparing enquiry packs, collating tender information
  • Preparing interim payments for approval by surveyors
  • Monitoring financial performance, financial analysis (including trend analysis) and preparing project performance reports and recommendations for the executive team
  • Developing and supervising implementation of and adherence to the commercial management plan, subcontract management plant and project risk management plan
  • Monitoring, reviewing and keeping relevant parties informed on the timeliness, cost, revenue, risk, progress and performance of the project(s)
  • Liaising with the construction team(s) to ensure commercial processes and operations are as effective, efficient and transparent as possible
  • Managing the procurement and commercial structure/framework for the project(s)
  • Developing and monitoring the subcontractor and supply agreement process
  • Evaluating business improvement opportunities and making recommendations to reduce costs, increase productivity, improve economic value added and increase earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures in relation to legal, financial and administration matters – the standard of internal control and policies

Quantity Surveyor/Quality Control experience, knowledge and skills need to include:

  • Knowledgeable of cost planning and construction project controls principles and practises
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contracts and procedure is preferred
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Experience in successful delivery of projects throughout the whole project lifecycle
  • Well-developed communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships in able to negotiate and manage conflict
  • Experience in pre and post contract services
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Acute focus on detail with very high standards with regards to delivering service
  • Good IT skills – proficient in MS Office and other software
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Proven experience in delivering large complex projects is preferred
  • Experience working on large scale new build is an advantage

Quantity Surveyor/Quality Control will have the following qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in quantity surveying, commercial or related discipline is preferred but is not essential
  • Professional memberships are an advantage but are not essential
