The MEP division of a large, recognised main contractor are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team on a large Rail Project in London. This is a Rail Extension contract that is set to run for the next 18 months to 2 years

The Role

To ensure that all installations are carried out with the maximum efficiency and to the highest quality and to the company’s standard on all key issues

To lead an engineering team to ensure successful ME delivery to a defined cost, time and quality requirements

Able to influence the decision making of the project team to suit ME requirements

To utilise our in-house specialist capabilities at every opportunity, creating a common understanding of our collective strength

Managing project critical relationships with the client and key stakeholders

To be rigorous in challenging all aspects of our cost base ensuring we are efficient and cost effective in delivery.

Key Deliverables

Responsible for delivering in a safe and efficient manner, covering all stages of the project life cycle. This will be achieved by working with other members of the programme team in an integrated manner to ensure overall programme performance

Responsible for budget and output performance and reporting to the ME Project Lead

Prepare and submit standardised reports to the ME Project Lead that include, but not limited to, current status of: out-turn costs, milestone completion dates and timely resource demands

Accountable for the effective management of all aspects of the project life cycle including design, construction, commissioning and hand over to the Client, all in compliance with

Agreed commercial criteria

Milestone dates including contract commencement and completion dates

Current Health and Safety legislation including CDM Regulations

Implement and maintain project procedures in a fully integrated and seamless manner

Contribute to a cohesive team environment thereby mitigating the potential for conflict and dispute, and maximising the team’s ability to achieve cost and time benefits

Monitor performance of consultants and contractors and act where necessary in respect of both their project management and delivery

Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

To implement Safety Management Systems and personally set the standard of zero tolerance of unsafe practices and occurrences

To ensure implementation of training required to meet HS standards

To establish the team structures, tools and processes that support delivery

To deliver the project within the authorised budget, optimising cost and quality parameters

To ensure production controls are in place for monitoring, reporting, benchmarking works and improving performance

To support implementation of line HR policies and practices

To create an environment for exceptional team performance

To ensure the teams, roles, skills and behaviour are aligned with the LOR objectives and project requirements

To optimise resource utilisation and eliminate waste wherever possible

Technical Experience

Able to demonstrate an extensive track record of project delivery within the construction or related industries

Should have the capability of understanding the complexity of a Major Project and believe in its value and future success

Previous ME delivery a distinct advantage

Sound commercial judgement

Understanding of HS legislation

General Qualifications

ONC or HNC in Building Services

Typically, of a trade background, ideally NVQ 4 or 5

4-day IOSH, 2-day IIF commitment workshop


Relevant Experience

Appriecation of the commercial implications of project delays

Experience of multiple projects and different roles within them (such as managing packages)

A strong technical capability in applying construction methods and optimising the use of construction plant and equipment

3 years as a supervisor and/or supervisor of supervisors
