News from our technical recruitment team
It’s been a few months since we last updated you with a post sharing news from our technical recruitment team, but that doesn’t mean it’s been quiet at Energi People.
Far from it!
Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been up to over the last few months.
Energi at Twickers
This season (rugby for those of you not in the know) we’ve taken a box at the home of English Rugby: Twickenham. Our guests and the Energi team have enjoyed great hospitality and some exciting sport at Twickers including last month’s World Cup Warm Up games. We’re looking forward to more action later in the year and the Guinness Six Nations 2020 next February.

New team members
Back in August we welcomed Portia Hotchkiss to our Building Services desk. Portia joins Energi as a Senior Recruitment Consultant bringing a wealth of experience in recruitment and sales to the team.
Also, our all-important Accounts team got a boost of new talent last week with the arrival of Sarah Lopez, our new Credit Controller. Sarah will be keeping an eye on our accounts and chasing up those unpaid invoices!
Promotion for Kat Slater
Our consultants get excellent career progression at Energi People with a clear roadmap of how they can progress from trainee to consultant, and then to senior recruitment consultant. There are also opportunities to head up new recruitment desks and even propose a new direction for the company.
Kat Slater joined us as a trainee just 18 months ago and has rapidly accelerated her recruitment career. In August she became a senior recruitment consultant heading up our brand new FM & Maintenance desk. Below Kat shares how it all happened:

BIM networking event
On 19th September Nick and Laura hosted a BIM networking event that went down well with candidates and client alike. We find these events are great not only for helping our candidates make useful connections with potential employers, but also for clients to identify future talent. Networking is an important way to future proof both your career and your talent pool. We also had some interesting discussions about the skills employers need now and are predicated to need in the future; very useful insights that help BIM candidates ensure they’re focusing on the areas where they can deliver the most value.
If you would like to join us for future events like this, please get in touch.
Caribbean dates for Sarah New
Our Team Leader for the Caribbean / LATAM Construction and Hospitality desk, Sarah New, will be in British Virgin Islands, Antigua and Turks & Caicos next month (October). If you would like a meeting please contact her at [email protected]
The Structural Awards – Friday 15th November
Once again Energi People are sponsoring The Structural Awards, this time the Award for Structural Transformation. Nominees include 160 Old Street, Coal Drops Yard, EJ Whitten Widening Scheme, Metrotown Skytrain Station Renovation and Expansion, Nevill Holt Opera and Waterloo Station & Waterloo International Terminal Redevelopment.
This is a great event showcasing global engineering excellence and we are really looking forward to presenting the award and joining industry friends in November. Here’s a photo from last year’s award of the team with guests:
One Love Bahamas fundraiser – Saturday 23rd November
We are hosting a fundraising event to raise funds for disaster relief following Hurricane Dorian which destroyed large parts of the Bahamas at the beginning of this month. Tickets are now available by emailing us at [email protected].
It is very sad that only 2 years after Hurricane Irma we are fundraising again following another devastating hurricane in the Caribbean. Sarah, Hannah, Louise and Gareth (our Caribbean / LATAM Construction and Hospitality team) urge you to attend and donate. Further details to follow soon.
Update – Sarah New and Hannah Dalton and were invited to the Sandals Foundation 10th Anniversary Celebration this week. You can find out more about what this organisation does here.
